Mountain cabin retreat in the western Colorado high country
This is just the type of mountain cabin property that everyone is looking for. A 1500+ sq. ft. rustic hunting cabin sits in an open meadow surrounded by an aspen forest. The view from the cabin front porch looks out across one of the two large ponds on the property. The cabin itself has a spring fed water supply, indoor plumbing and septic system, and is wired for electricity which is powered by a gasoline generator. Horse Creek runs through the property and delivers 2 shares of Park Reservoir water which is used year-round to supply water to the upper pond. The ponds have been stocked with fish in the past and have proven to able to keep fish year-round.
Off-grid property with National Forest access
Nearly 160 acres of aspen forest, areas of oak and sage brush cover the rolling terrain which sits right around 9000 feet in elevation. The property is perimeter fenced with a locked gate. The views from the lower parcel extend out over the Surface Creek Valley and stretch all the way to the San Juan Range near Telluride, CO. Views of the Grand Mesa and the Uncompaghre Plateau are also visible from this hunting property. Two developed springs, two large fishing ponds, 158 acres with stunning views and excellent hunting, 1500 sq. ft. cabin, running creek, locked gate access, National Forest access…this is the one everyone is looking for!
Private hunting acreage–access is through locked gate
This parcel is located in the Horse Creek Properties subdivision–made up of several 40-acre parcels that were subdivided out of a large mountain tract. The good news is that there is no homeowner’s association with a bunch of rules on how to use your property. Neighboring tracts have recreational cabins on them. This parcel consists of 4-40+/- acre parcels. There are no easements through the property for others to access the national forest, and no association assessments. The road to the property is gravel and access is seasonal, but the roads are in good condition. The neighbors have an informal agreement with a local rancher to graze his cattle on all the parcels, and they use the lease money to maintain the roads. Access is through a locked gate, to which all owners have the combination.
